Children's Dentistry

First Visit

Bringing your little one for the first time to the dentist gives them the opportunity to become familiar with the dental chair and environment. This critical time is used to ease children’s anxieties with the idea of going to the dentist.

Our main purpose of the initial examination is to visually inspect your child’s teeth and gums to ensure that there’s nothing out of the ordinary going on.

Our dentist can encourage your child to become familiar with dental instruments such as the dental mirror while your child may count their own teeth.

By allowing us to check your child’s teeth early in development, we can identify and discuss potential risks of decay and educate both you and your child on healthy nutrition and brushing techniques.

We always make sure that there is enough time to answer any questions both you and your child may have to help instil good dental habits from an early age. After your child’s first visit, it’s highly encouraged to maintain routine 6-monthly preventative check-ups for your child to make sure their dental health stays on track!

At Refine Dental, we always aim to provide a caring and gentle approach to ensure a pleasant experience for your child at every dental visit.

The Child Dental Benefits schedule (CDBS)

The CDBS is a $1000 benefit per child given every two calendar years to eligible families. Eligibility is dependent on a means test which normally requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment. The Child Dental Benefit Schedule covers a range of services such as examinations, x-rays, fillings, cleaning, fissure sealants and extractions.

At Refine Dental, we bulk bill all eligible patients under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. If you would like to check your child’s eligibility, please contact us with your Medicare details.
